JENN O'ROURKE
Project Manager, Supply Chain Transformation - The Walt Disney Company
Why an MBA?
“I decided to get my MBA as a transition from Active Duty Air Force service to the corporate world. Leaving the Air Force full time, I knew I would need additional networking & business acumen skills, as well as practice articulating the skills I already had in a way that resonated with employers in the corporate sector.”
Why UF?
“The first reason is that I knew and trusted the level of professionalism and academic rigor associated with UF, since I got my undergrad here as well. Once I started looking into the UF MBA program specifically, I was blown away by the career advisory and overall student experience testimonials. Once I met with the team at UF MBA, I knew it was the right fit for me.”

JAVIER MEJIA
Consumer Analytics & Insights Senior Manager - Procter & Gamble
Why an MBA?
“I was wrapping up my time in the Army and I wanted formal academic education that would complement my years of leadership experience. My goal was to make it to a corporate role within a socially responsible company that cares about people, cue P&G.”
Why UF?
“I applied and was accepted to several schools, all of which had great programs. What set UF apart was that at UF I felt like more than a number or just another student. The staff showed a genuine interest in the success of each student throughout the entire program. The professors are all experts in their fields who deliver best in class instruction. Finally, UF didn’t see my veteran experience as an obstacle, rather my experience was valued and integrated.”

SAVANNA ECKEL
Senior Operational Risk Specialist - Bank of America
Why an MBA?
“I never intended for the Active Duty Navy to be my career. It was a great opportunity and a great experience, but I reached a time when I was ready to separate and pursue a civilian career. I expected that earning an MBA would help bridge the gap between the leadership experiences I had in the military and the business acumen I would need to start my civilian career. That is why I decided to pursue my MBA.”
Why UF?
“I lived in Middleburg, FL with my husband, who was on Active Duty in Jacksonville at the time. I researched in-person MBA programs in the area and discovered the program at UF. I was especially impressed with the program’s ratings in the region and on the national level. In my mind, I didn’t see a need to go anywhere else, when I lived ‘close’ to the best school in the area. It was a 90-minute commute one direction without traffic or parking issues, but it was totally worth it!”

Why an MBA?
“My father was a 27 year Naval Aviator, and during his Department Head ride at a training squadron he earned his MBA, knowing that one day he would utilize it in the civilian sector. Sure enough, after he got out, he stepped right into the largest Private Family Medicine Practice in NE Florida as the business manager. I had a great example of how an MBA can uniquely and quickly position a transitioning military officer into a successful career post service.”
Why UF?
“Unmatched quality and extremely high ROI are the best terms to describe the Hough Business School. You will not find the small cohort sizes and rigorous standards for enrollment anywhere else; as a Florida MBA, you’re grouped with a diverse collection of some of the most highly capable people in the country, all of whom bring their own unique background for you to benefit from. Finally, Florida MBAs benefit from the hardest working and furthest reaching Career Services Department and Alumni Network… you’ll have that once in a lifetime opportunity to get in front of the company you’ve always wanted to work for. It’s great to be a Gator!”
