Many military veterans have accelerated their transitions by attending the Florida MBA. Click their photos to learn more about why they decided to pursue an MBA, how they chose the UF MBA, and what they’re doing now!
Why an MBA? “I felt that an MBA would enhance the leadership, management and operational skills I gained while serving in the Marine Corps while improving my business acumen.”
Why UF? “UF is home and family. After spending much of my career away from Florida, I knew I wanted to get back closer to family in South Florida. The entire UF MBA staff was invaluable in helping me transition from military to civilian life. They understood the value of close personal relationships – something I did not feel from other MBA programs. Add that to the high public rankings, exceptional faculty, and low cost of attendance and it is easy to see why UF MBA is the best value in the country.”

BIO “Mr. Hough entered officer training and was in the US Navy’s V-12 unit stationed at the University of Miami when the World War II ended. After the war he attended college on the G.I. and went on to earn an MBA at the University of Florida. Hough built his reputation in the finance world as founder of the investment banking firm William R. Hough & Co., which he operated for 38 years. He recently donated $30 million to the graduate business programs at the University of Florida.”

Why an MBA? “I knew that pursuing an MBA would be an essential piece of the puzzle for a successful transition. I wanted to ensure that my first job outside the military would be the ͞right job͟ for the long-term and pursuing an MBA was the right path.”
Why UF? “The UF MBA had the right mix of everything I was looking for – it had a strong faculty, attracted strong fellow students to challenge my way of thinking, had strong relationships with potential employers, and last but not least, provided a clear return on investment.”

Why an MBA? “My father was a 27 year Naval Aviator, and during his Department Head ride at a training squadron he earned his MBA, knowing that one day he would utilize it in the civilian sector. Sure enough, after he got out, he stepped right into the largest Private Family Medicine Practice in NE Florida as the business manager. I had a great example of how an MBA can uniquely and quickly position a transitioning military officer into a successful career post service.”
Why UF? “Unmatched quality and extremely high ROI are the best terms to describe the Hough Business School. You will not find the small cohort sizes and rigorous standards for enrollment anywhere else; as a Florida MBA, you’re grouped with a diverse collection of some of the most highly capable people in the country, all of whom bring their own unique background for you to benefit from. Finally, Florida MBAs benefit from the hardest working and furthest reaching Career Services Department and Alumni Network… you’ll have that once in a lifetime opportunity to get in front of the company you’ve always wanted to work for. It’s great to be a Gator!”
