Who is an MBA Veteran?
An MBA Veteran is a business professional who has served honorably in his or her nation’s Armed Forces as either a commissioned officer, non-commissioned officer, or enlisted service member and is currently pursuing or has received a Master of Business Administration degree.
Are there any eligibility requirements to participate in your programs?
Yes. In order to participate in all of our offerings you must meet both of the following criteria:
• Have served as a commissioned officer, NCO, or enlisted member in a uniformed military service on Active Duty, in the National Guard or as a Reservist.
• You must be a FT, PT, or EMBA student enrolled at or a graduate of a top-40 ranked US MBA program according to US News and World Report and/or the 1st and 2nd Tier US MBA programs or top-ranked International MBA programs according to BusinessWeek (from 2006 rankings through the present) . I am not a military veteran, but I worked for the military and/or for another federal agency (CIA, FBI, DOD, DIA, ATF, etc.) as a civilian or contractor and spent time working in a combat zone. May I participate in your programs?
While we appreciate your service, you are not eligible to participate in the MBA Veterans Network.
I am a military veteran, but I am completing a non-MBA Master’s (MSF, MSA, MPA, MPP, MIB, MSFE, etc.) or PhD at one of the graduate schools of business listed on your eligibility list. May I participate in your programs?
While we applaud your commitment to pursuing a graduate degree at a great university, participation is exclusive to MBA students and alumni.
My MBA program isn’t on your eligibility list. May I still join the Network?
Not at this time. First of all, our corporate partners have very specific talent acquisition strategies and many leading employers place a priority on hiring candidates with top-ranked MBA degrees. Since a large part of our mission is to connect them with the kinds of candidates who meet their needs, we use these rankings to draw our “line in the sand” so to speak. If this changes, we will adjust our membership rules accordingly. Secondly, we believe that a person’s ability to succeed in the business world is at least partially attributable to their commitment to educational advancement. As such, people who are willing who expend the effort, time, and financial resources in the pursuit an MBA from a top-ranked program have already demonstrated their committment to personal excellence and we believe that there is great value in connecting them exclusively with each other.
I am a veteran, but I served in a non-US military service. Am I eligible to become a member of the Network?
Absolutely. As long as you are student or graduate of a qualifying MBA program you are more than welcome to take advantage all of our programs. The Network is designed to be a global organization.
